  1. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and under 65 years old

  2. The applicant must be of outstanding character and hold no criminal record

  3. The applicant must have assets worth at least US$450,000

  4. At the start of the procedure, the applicant must deposit 25% upon submission plus the due diligence fees

If all requirements are fulfilled, the applicant may take the following steps. 


The application is prepared with Ousheng & Partners for purposes of conducting a background check. This includes a police clearance certificate and a non-refundable processing fee. Documents for family applications with additional members aged 12+ also need to be prepared. 


When the background checks are completed, the applicant will enter a written agreement to begin the application process.The applicant must also provide the 40% of total costs at this step. 


Upon further successful processing of the application by the Citizenship Commission, a 20% payment of total costs is due at this step. 


The Naturalisation certificate is issued by the Citizenship Commission. The applicant makes another 20% payment of the total costs and receives a soft copy of the Citizenship Certificate. 


The Citizenship Commission will issue the Certificate of Citizenship and issues the passport. The outstanding 20% of the total costs is paid by the applicant. 


Finally, the applicant has three options to take the Oath of Allegiance in order to receive the passport. These are:

  • to travel to Vanuatu

  • to invite the Commissioner of oath to their country (costs beared by applicant)

  • to wait for the Commissioner to the nearest Vanuatu Diplomatic mission to meet them there. 

Where is vanuatu?

Vanuatu is situated in the South Pacific Ocean, near Australia and New Zealand. It is the only country in Oceania to offer a citizenship-by-investment programme. It is an archipelago of 80 islands.

Do i need to travel to vanuatu for the citizenship process?

You are not required to travel to Vanuatu for the process. When your application is successful, you will however need to arrange for an Oath of Allegiance ceremony with a Vanuatu Commissioner. We are here to help you with this to ensure your utmost convenience. 

How long does a ni-vanuatu passport last and how can i renew it?

A Vanuatu passport is valid for 5 years and can be renewed upon expiry. It is also hereditary, meaning it can be passed down vertically in your family line. 

What is vanuatu's economy like?

Vanuatu's economy is mostly agricultural, with copra, cocoa, timber, and beef as its main exports. It also has a rapidly growing tourist and financial sector, stimulated by the DSP. 

how much does the Citizenship programme cost?

The programme can cost as little as USD200,000 for a single applicant. A family application including the applicant and up to three dependents has a minimal increase of USD230,000.
